Important...

Dear Parents,

We are off to a wonderful, and speedy start in all subject areas. There are a few things I would like to address:

Reading Bags: This year, I will be sending home books in a Ziploc baggie again. This way your child will always have one book baggie in school. It is very important that they bring the home baggie back to school each day. Please make sure your child is reading each night and recording in their Reading Log. It is not necessary to only read the book they bring home, they can choose a different book from home.

 

Birthdays: We are more than happy to celebrate Birthday's in the classroom. Please make sure you let us know in advance so that we can set aside time to have a party. This year we will be purchasing cupcakes in Crown Heights, for the celebration. We will be asking the parents to contribute a a few dollars to make the purchase. Also, if you wish to send in goody bags please make sure they do not contain food, or action figures. As always parents, and family members are welcome to join. If you wish to buy the class a gift in honor of your child's birthday please refer to the class wish list. 

 

Homework: By the end of this week your child should have three homework folders. One for English, one for Russian, and one for Judaic. Please make sure that you are placing homework in the correct folders. Also it is very important that you check off how hard or easy the homework was and how much time was spent on it. Please do not forget to sign the homework log each night.

Dear Parents,

I am very excited to be teaching the second grade this year.

We are off to a great start with the first few days of school!

The children are doing great with their Hebrew Language!

We will be continuing with the same Tal Am curriculum as was used in first grade which is very exciting in the classroom.

The High Holidays are right around the corner, while there’s a lot to learn about each specific holiday.

This week we will be focusing on the Holiday of Rosh Hashana-The New Year!

We will be learning all about what we do on Rosh Hashana to what foods we eat.

Ask your children to sing to you the new songs they are learning and all about the holiday of Rosh Hashana!

Dearest Parents & Students,

I would like to welcome all of you back to school and the wonderful second grade.  I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to be your children’s teacher again. I hope all of you had an amazing, relaxing summer.

As you may already know, my classroom philosophy centers on building a respectful community of lifelong learners.  Children learn best in welcoming, safe environments where they care treated as important individuals and feel comfortable taking chances, and making mistakes. This is the kind of environment that we will continue to build upon.

Just a quick reminder about some classroom policies:

• Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday
• At the beginning of the week your child will bring home a homework log with the week  assignments typed in for each week
• Spelling homework will be completed in a designated notebook
• Reading Logs: this year your children will fill in their own reading logs

A friendly reminder that homework is designed so that students may practice skills learned within the classroom and should be completed each day.  If you should have any issues in regard to the homework please contact me.

Please don’t forget to be on the lookout for our class blog. I will be posting tons of pictures, as well as important information in regard to our class and school functions.

We are more than happy to celebrate birthdays in the class. As always parents and family members are more than welcome to join in the festivities. If you wish to join us please let either me, or my assistant Estee know so that we can set aside time. If you wish to give our goody bags please no food, or inappropriate toys. (Example: action figures)

If you wish to donate a gift to the classroom please refer to the class wish list which has been updated on the Mazel website.
