Letter Writing Publishing Party

Second grade has published another piece of writing...

In Writing Workshop we are moving along very nicely, and the class was able to publish another piece of writing. This time we learned how to write all different types of letters:

• Friendly Letters
• Invitations
• Letters of Persuasion
• Thank You Notes
• Conversation Letters

Before they published I told them that they could pick a letter of their own choice. This would be the letter that they edited, and revised. Once they were all done we had a great publishing party :)))

Measuring Forces and Motion..

How much force do you need to move one book? How about 2,3, or 4? In Science the kids used books, rubber bands, and rulers to measure how much force they would need to move a book with a rubber band.. After they wrote about it in their Science Journals..

Forces and Motion

Dear Parents,

In Science we are working on a Unit called FORCES and MOTION. This is a really fun unit where the kids try different experiments to see how force and motion really works. The first thing we did was review vocabulary words such as: force, motion, gravity, repel, attract.. then we discussed what force means and what motion means. 

The first activity was very simple.. all the kids had to do was jump up and down. They were the ones to do all the motions... the next experiment was to split up into two groups. One group had to make paper airplanes, and throw them in the air. Their force made the airplane have motion. They had an awesome time doing this. The other group blew on cut up pieces of paper. The force of the air coming from their mouth made the paper have motion. The harder the blew the farther the paper moved.
