What fun learning all about the Holidays!

Dear parents,

I hope you had a nice and uplifting Holiday!

In school the past few weeks were packed with learning why we celebrate each holiday and what we do to celebrate. In addition we made lots of projects for the children to use at home.

Some of the projects we made were honey jars for Rosh Hashana, , Lulav and Esrog sets for Sukos,  Edible  Sukahs which the children got to eat in class and Flags for Simchas Torah when when we dance with the Torah.

Now that we are back to school I would like to encourage you to continue taking the time to supervise your child when they do their reading and writing Homework to ensure ultimate success.

Our Upcoming Trip to the Aquarium

On October 24, 2012 we will be going on our first trip to the New York Aquarium. The kids are really excited and we are going to have tons of fun. At the Aquarium we will be participating in a workshop.


Fins & Feathers
Can you imagine what fish and penguins have in common? Children compare and contrast the characteristics of these fascinating animals via story, biofact investigation, and a penguin/fish puppet art activity. 

We will be leaving school at around 11:30, as our workshop starts at 11:45, and we should be back at 1:00. The class will have breakfast in school, and we will be taking snacks along with us. We will have lunch upon our return. 

Math Fun : Learning about Place Value

In Math we are learning about place value. We are learning about the hundreds, tens, and ones columns. To make learning about this easier and more fun we are using slates, markers, place value charts, and chips. The kids are having a lot of fun and a great hands on experience.

On September 28th, 2012 we had a surprise Birthday Celebration for our friend Avi.. He had no idea his mom was coming and that we were going to have this party.
